Blood Gas Syringe

IVD System

WEGO blood gas syringe is a medical device used for collecting arterial blood gas samples.

WG03-006-001

Blood Gas Syringes

The WEGO arterial blood gas syringe is a precision instrument for obtaining arterial blood gas samples. Each blood gas syringe, fitted with a specialized needle, enables accurate measurement of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and pH levels – parameters vital for effective decision-making in emergency and critical care medicine.

The arterial blood gas syringe is a cornerstone of WEGO’s comprehensive portfolio of advanced medical syringes. Our range of these critical devices, including blood gas syringes in 1mL and 3mL configurations, is tailored to diverse clinical scenarios. To ensure convenience, these ABG syringes are offered with multiple packaging options, providing healthcare facilities with complete and flexible solutions.

Features

1.Sampling Precision and Patient Safety

The arterial blood gas syringe features a sharper needle point with specialized lubrication technology to minimize patient discomfort during puncture. A transparent needle hub allows for clear visualization of blood flashback, ensuring accurate vascular access. To mitigate the risk of needlestick injuries, an optimized butyl rubber seal ensures needle safety following use.

2.Accurate Sample Integrity

The anticoagulant—calcium-balanced lithium heparin—is uniformly applied to the syringe wall, a key design consideration for any arterial blood gas syringe manufacturer to guarantee reliable results. This feature works in tandem with a double-layer conical sealing cap, which creates a hermetic seal to maintain the integrity of blood gas parameters.

3.Optimization of Clinical Workflow Efficiency

Engineered to streamline the sampling procedure, the arterial blood gas syringe reduces operating time by up to 80%. Its self-venting mechanism and closed-system design automatically evacuate air upon blood entry, maintaining a hermetic environment while standardizing collection protocols for enhanced clinical efficiency.

4.Clinical Value of Blood Gas Analysis

Effective blood gas analysis begins with proper sample collection using an ABG syringe, providing critical diagnostic and therapeutic guidance for respiratory, circulatory, and metabolic disorders by monitoring key parameters in arterial blood. It reflects the body’s ability to maintain internal homeostasis and is particularly vital for monitoring cardiopulmonary function in patients during and after surgery.

5.Critical Role in Diagnosing Severe Conditions

Hypoxemia and acid-base imbalance are common, life-threatening complications in critically ill patients. Since they cannot be reliably diagnosed through clinical signs alone, blood gas analysis – enabled by arterial blood gas sampling syringes – serves as the only and most reliable method for their detection and severity assessment.

What are ABG syringes?

The arterial blood gas syringes are specialized medical devices designed exclusively for arterial blood sampling from patients. Their primary purpose is to obtain a sample that can be analyzed to measure the levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and the pH in the blood, a test critical for assessing a patient’s respiratory and metabolic status.

  • The piston of the ABGsyringe is retracted to the 1.6mL pre-set position prior to arterial puncture.
  • Wait for blood to fill to 1.6mLand pull out the needle, and tell the patient to press the puncture site tightly for at least 5
  • Insert the needle into the blueneedle seal placed on the surface of the operating table.
  • Unscrew the needle with the seal anddiscard it, then cover the blue cone-head seal at the cone head of the sampler.
  • Place the arterial blood sample in thepalm and rub it for at least 1 minute, then immediately send it for testing.

An arterial blood gas syringe is an integrated system engineered to protect a sample’s integrity from collection to analysis—far more than a simple container. Its use becomes non-negotiable in critical settings where accurate gas and pH values direct urgent interventions, such as adjusting ventilator settings or managing shock.
