WEGO Surgical Suture

Wound closure plays a critical role in surgical outcomes, directly influencing tissue healing, patient comfort, and scar formation. In clinical practice, the selection of surgical sutures requires absolute confidence in material quality, mechanical performance, and manufacturing consistency.

WEGO surgical sutures combine premium materials and precision manufacturing processes. Our products include surgical suture needles, sterile and non-sterile medical sutures, available in absorbable and non-absorbable categories, respectively. The comprehensive types of surgical sutures provide global medical institutions with superior products that promote tissue healing and reduce complications.

Backed by ISO 13485, CE, and FDA certifications, and supported by Product Liability Insurance since 2007, WEGO surgical sutures are trusted by global healthcare institutions for safe, effective, and standardized wound management.

Featured Products
PGA surgical sutures are made from polyglycolic acid (PGA), a biodegradable synthetic polymer known for its high tensile strength and predictable absorption characteristics. PGA sutures are commonly used in surgeries where initial support is needed but the suture material does not need to be permanent. This includes general surgeries for closing internal tissues and organs, orthopedic procedures for soft tissue repair and ligament reconstruction, and gynecological surgeries involving internal tissues. The advantage of PGA sutures is that they are absorbed within 60-90 days, eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove the sutures.
PVDF Sutures are made from polyvinylidene fluoride, a synthetic polymer with high chemical stability and excellent mechanical properties. PVDF is highly resistant to chemical corrosion and heat, making it suitable for use in a variety of environments. PVDF sutures are ideal for surgeries that demand high suture performance, such as cardiovascular and urological procedures involving complex tissue repair and reconstruction. Due to its superior physical properties and chemical stability, PVDF provides strong support and durability, making it ideal for surgeries requiring long-term support. The biocompatibility of PVDF reduces the risk of postoperative inflammation and rejection reactions.

Polypropylene Suture is a non-absorbable surgical suture made from synthetic polypropylene. This suture does not degrade or absorb within the body, offering long-term support, which is crucial in surgeries requiring prolonged fixation. The material is characterized by high tensile strength, allowing it to withstand significant mechanical stress during the healing process. The smooth surface of polypropylene sutures facilitates easy passage through tissues, minimizing friction and tissue damage. It is particularly suitable for suturing delicate structures like blood vessels, as well as internal tissues and organs that require non-absorbable suture support.

Nylon Sutures are made from nylon, a synthetic polymer known as polyamide, which is an extremely strong and durable synthetic fiber widely used in various surgical sutures. Nylon was originally developed as a substitute for silk, offering greater strength and durability. Sterilization does not damage or affect the performance of nylon sutures. These sutures are less likely to irritate tissues and generally do not cause significant tissue reactions, making them suitable for surgeries involving highly sensitive areas such as the eyes or lips.

Silk Sutures are made from natural silk fibers and are known for their excellent tensile strength and flexibility, which allow for secure tissue approximation in various surgical procedures. The smooth surface of silk sutures allows them to pass through tissues easily, minimizing tissue damage. Silk sutures also have outstanding knot security, ensuring that tissues are effectively held in place. They are commonly used in general surgery for skin, muscle, and tissue closure, as well as in ophthalmic surgeries and delicate plastic surgeries requiring fine suturing.
PGLA Sutures are made from Polyglactin 910 (PGLA), a synthetic absorbable polymer co-polymerized from glycolide and lactide. PGLA sutures are absorbable and gradually degrade within the body, eliminating the need for suture removal after surgery. They are suitable for suturing internal tissues, such as in abdominal and thoracic surgeries, uterine and vaginal tissue repair, as well as in bone fracture repairs and ligament reconstruction surgeries.

Clinical Value of High-Quality Sutures

High-quality surgical sutures play a critical role in achieving optimal wound closure and surgical outcomes. Properly engineered sutures help minimize tissue trauma during needle passage, maintain stable wound edge approximation, and provide reliable tensile strength throughout the healing process, thereby reducing the risk of wound dehiscence, infection, and excessive scarring.

By integrating advanced material science, precision-controlled manufacturing, and rigorous quality validation, WEGO surgical sutures deliver consistent handling characteristics, secure knot performance, and predictable absorption or long-term support, depending on clinical indication. This reliability supports efficient surgical workflows, enhances procedural confidence, and contributes to improved patient safety, comfort, and overall clinical outcomes across a wide range of surgical specialties.

WEGO Sterile Surgical Suture

Strong and sharp needle combined well with soft and smooth thread with sophisticated manufacturing process, offering various easy-to-use packaging that makes WEGO Medical become the reliable choice of surgical suture manufacturer.

We offers a full spectrum of absorbable and non-absorbable sutures to address different tissue types, healing profiles, and procedural requirements.

Absorbable Sutures

  • PGA Suture — Provides predictable tensile strength retention and controlled absorption, commonly used for soft tissue approximation and ligation.

  • PGLA Suture — A braided absorbable suture offering balanced strength and flexibility, supporting smooth handling and reliable knot security during healing.

Non-Absorbable Sutures

  • Polypropylene Suture — Monofilament suture with excellent biocompatibility and minimal tissue reaction, widely used in cardiovascular and plastic surgery.

  • Nylon Suture — Smooth monofilament structure offering high tensile strength and low tissue drag, suitable for skin closure and general surgical use.

  • Silk Suture — Braided natural fiber suture providing superior handling and knot security for ligation and general surgical procedures.

  • PVDF Suture — Advanced monofilament material with enhanced strength retention and flexibility, supporting long-term tissue support in demanding surgical environments.

Together, these sutures form a complete wound closure system supporting reliable healing outcomes across a broad range of surgical indications.

The WEGO 420 series medical suture needles are made from maraging stainless steel. They are made by full US machines with a newly developed technique. This super alloy offers excellent ductility, bending performance, high strength, and a sharp edge.

The WEGO 300 series surgical needles are crafted from stainless steel family AISI 300, also known as the austenitic stainless steel family. It represents the optimal grade of stainless steel for high-performance surgical needles on the market, combining high ductility with strong bending resistance for superior penetration. This series is more resistant to bending and breaking and is available in a square body for enhanced strength.

The WEGO 300 series surgical needles provide superior penetration performance compared to the WEGO 420 series.
